An ode

He is a radical Teddy bear
Standing behind the police tape wall of never ending authority
Trembling like a taught string on a guitar
He dreams in e sharp
Black and white, good guys and devils
Going toe to toe to claw to tentacled mass of irradiated flesh
His Teddy bear fur stays clean even while playing in garbage
Button eyes agleam with hopes and dreams
That seem unquenchable
Like Flames burning down a cynical future
He aims to fight!
He aims to help america be america again
He aims to make america the land it dreams of being
Leaping from science fiction dreams to tin can and scrap metal goals
Banging a drum for some kind of aimless revolution that no one seems to be calling for
Except he’s calling
I hold my teddy bear tight against the drowning waves of apathetic reality
It’s warped droning chanting gibbering screaming whirlwind destructive madness beyond these walls
But I’ll protect my teddy bear and feed him what he desires
I’ll tell him tales of heroes
Then I’ll make them human
I’ll tell him of everyday occurrences
Then I’ll explain why they’re magic
My teddy bear will ask questions without answers
I’ll shamelessly tell him “I don’t know”
And it’s okay because my teddy bear is already better
Teddy bear is me 2.0
An upgraded model filled with unspoiled pristine optimism
Optimism that can move mountains
He doesn’t expect a creator to save him
But he’s willing to demand that the creator clean up after himself
My teddy bear stares at an alternate reality mirror universe form of me that seems to have the right answers
Yet he is proud of the flesh and blood I am
I find myself rooting for my teddy bear
I let myself believe that he can do it
My teddy bear
My hero
