If you have had to walk through any public space for any decent length at all, you will have seen all manner of posters. These little packets of information are often absorbed without really thinking about it. Quite some time ago, a group of strange folks created a movement called Discordianism.
One part culture-jamming, one part self effacing humor and who knows how many other parts weird, insane rambling, the discordians came up with several notable ideas. One of which was called Operation Mindfuck.
The idea is simple and everyone can play along: do something that snaps those around you out of the daily monotony. Dramatically read poetry on the train, Surprise your significant other with lunch and a dance at work or break out in random song about all the things that are happening to you… in realtime. “..Now I’m typing, on this la-aptop and I’ll click that mouse baby all through the night…” (sung to the tune of ‘I’ll make love to you by Boyz 2 men). Then, there was the PosterGASM.
- Create a poster that looks like maybe it belongs.
- Post it about your neighborhood.
- Giggle madly.
- ?? PROFIT! ??
So, these are my attempts at creating some fancy flyers to fasten fastidiously and festoon my filthy fiefdom. Let me know if you enjoy any of them. Also, if you happen to find some really good ones (or post mine) let me know!
