A vow

Let us explode into the night
Burning like stars wrapped in velvet and pinned to the sky
We must hold each other like we’re dying
And the only thing to keep from flying is the beating of our hearts
Our hearts should beat like a dance tune
Something drawing us to the dance floor tired, sweaty and glowing
Our skin should be made of glitter
Shimmering with every motion like the moon reflected on the ocean

Your body is a gateway to paradise
Your body make enlightenment worthless
When you touch me enlightenment is worth even less
When we wake up on our mattress I’m blessed

So let us dance in supermarkets to sappy pop songs echoing in tattered speakers like ghosts waltzing through graveyards during funerals
Let us live life like it’s been owed to us.

We will live a life of passion
It will ignite like gasoline poured on a trashcan fire
The light will spread trapping every moment in amber
Like prehistoric fireflies waiting millions of years to brighten the night

We will yell like we’re roaring lions and argue until we’re pulling our hair out and calling the reflection insane.
We will make up and all will be forgiven
It will be like rediscovering a wonderful book that you swore you’d lost
And we will never be lost
When we make love, it will tear open the heavens and angels will fall to earth because such unfettered joy doesn’t belong here
And we won’t stop for them
We won’t stop for anyone

And as we age and our bodies break down like rusted machines
As the days and the nights run together between lost time and half-remembered memories
We will look back at when we burned like stars pinned to the sky
And we will know that we loved
